Hrithik's Kites sold for Rs 150 Crore

BIG Pictures, the Motion Pictures Brand of Reliance Big Entertainment, has acquired worldwide marketing and distribution rights for Hrithik Roshan's Kites, Filmkraft's most ambitious project yet.

As reported in Mumbi Mirror, Hrithik's Kites has struck a new high in Bollywood. According to the latest buzz, the film has been bought by Reliance Big Pictures for almost Rs 150 crore.

Kites surpasses both Singh Is Kinng (around Rs 70 crore) and Om Shanti Om (around Rs 60 crore) by a long shot. Reveales a source to Mumbai Mirror, "Every major corporate house in the industry was looking to get the rights of Kites. The deal has been closed at over Rs 150 crore. The deal includes worldwide rights, along with overseas, music, satellite and video rights. However the deal is only for a certain period with a minimum guarantee amount. This amount is over Rs 150 crore."

Kites is a romantic thriller being directed by Anurag Basu. Apart from Hrithik Roshan, who plays the male lead in the film, the film stars Mexican actress Barbara Mori, Kangana Ranaut, Nick Brown and Kabir Bedi. The film will have music by Rajesh Roshan.

The film will be marketed and distributed worldwide by Reliance Big Entertainment, which will leverage the strengths of all of its Group Companies, engaged in the media and entertainment space.

The film is slated for release in the third quarter of 2009, it is targeted at both Indian as well as the world markets.

Commenting on the development, Rakesh Roshan, Chairman – Filmkraft Productions (India) Pvt. Limited, said, "We are very pleased to partner with Reliance Big Entertainment for the marketing and distribution of Kites. This is the biggest film to come out of India ever, and a film targeted at both Indian as well as world audiences."
